Featured Case Study: Gold TR7
The Gold TR7 project came to us from a client eager to race at classic car events. The initial condition of this donor car presented several challenges, initially being manufactured with a sunroof. Our objective was to manufacture in steel a replacement roof panel and insert into the sunroof apperture.
Restoration Process
Initial Assessment and Planning
We began with a thorough inspection of the Gold TR7, developing a comprehensive restoration plan tailored to the client's needs.
Structural and Chassis Work
Our first step involved sandblasting the chassis to eliminate rust and contaminants. We repaired any damage found and applied anti-corrosive paint to ensure longevity and safety.
Panel Manufacture
We custom fabricated a sunroof insert and reinforced the roof frame, using traditional techniques to achieve a seamless fit.
Bodywork and Finishing
To reduce distortion, we employed lead loading on the joints, followed by primer application in preparation for the final painting.
Reassembly and Testing
The final stage included meticulous reassembly and rigorous testing to guarantee the TR7 was ready for the road.
The outcome was stunning, and our client was thrilled. As they stated, "A very professional service and paid a lot of attention to detail on fitting a new roof to my TR7 rally car. Very easy to get on with, and welcomed me at any stage of the work to show what had been done. Highly recommend and would 100% use again. Thank you, Ian."
